Sunday, 21st January 2007: Pack @ Lil’ Havana, KL!
Note: Change of venue, Pack will be playing at Little Havana instead of CM. Details below..
The Ricecooker Shop Shitworkers presents!
PACK
with: Apparatus | Kah-Roe-Shi | Penang’s Samurai Champloo
8.00pm till 11pm
RM12
Little Havana, KL (map below)
We will start the show at 8.30pm SHARP! SO PLEASE COME AS EARLY AS YOU CAN!
note: this is a benefit for The Ricecooker Shop & the Johor Flood Relief, do come and give our love to PACK who came all the way from so bloody far away!
details & map below:
Note: We have to change the venue because the Central Market Annexe’s PA system is gonna be used by another show by some people, meaning that we would need to hire another one, which would cost us quite a bit of money. And so…
The time has also changed to 8PM, this is because the Little Havana surroundings has quite an irate bunch of tenants in the nearby houses/condos who just hate loud rock’n’roll! We have to stop the show by 10.30PM.

tukar venue pulak eh? kat annexe tak jadi?
my bad, tak baca posting sampai habis pulak 🙂
Sorry for being off-topic but what is the booking situation like with the Annexe @ CM? Would love to put something together at the place for Feb (maybe around mid to late).
Will it be available during the time?
And what exactly are the contact details to make this happen?
Many thanks.
hope u guys had fun last night. i was not feeling well and went to bed at 9.30…
was there but didn’t get in thou..too late coz some shit happen @ paul place earlier.
nway, check out http://www.papakerma.com
thx!
thanks to all who came. It was a good show really. all fucking good bands. but there were a few things:
1. the cymbals came too late, at about 9.20pm. So the show started late, and so all the bands (apart from Samurai Champloo) had to cut their set. This is because we cannot go further than 11PM, still we managed to delay it so Pack played till round 11.25PM! The police came twice to the venue because of noise complaints from the houses nearby. Lil Havana’s owner took care of them BUT they could come again! So we tried our best to get it done with ASAP.
My apologies to Kah-Roe-Shi, Apparatus & Pack for all that trouble. I too would hate it if my planned set was cut short like that night. Thanks for the understanding showed by all who played and all who came.
2. Not many people turned up. Only 58 people paid to go in and some paid like RM10 cause they don’t have money. So I had to add in RM50 to the total so we can pay all the bands and the equipment.
Good people we all need to hug:
My gratitude to all the bands for taking the troubles mentioned above with much grace. Also most for Vinh & Jing who took care of the door for FREE. I now owe them dinner!
The equipment supplier & sound man (Mamil & friends) also did a great job, with the sound guy staying through the night handling the gig. I think the sound was the best we had in there!
Since the money was so small, we ONLY managed to pay them RM150. I hope they will call me up soon if they need more money. Anyway, if you are doing a gig and needs equipments & PA, do call Mamil up. He and his friends are all damn amazingly nice people – Mamil: 012 – 265 4369.
All the local bands were paid RM50 each. A paltry amount I know but what to do? We paid Pack RM100. BTW; the nice guys in Samurai Champloo didn’t want the money offered, but we are still going to send them RM50 anyway!
No money goes to Ricecooker shop or the flood fund. We decided to take care of the bands first. It’s the right thing to do. I also didn’t take any money from the takings.
Report:
There are pictures, videos taken but no time to put it yet. In a few sentences, I think all of you who were NOT there missed one excellent show. It was good. Apparatus & Kah-Roe-Shi rocked the house down, and Samurai Champloo was really good too! The sound was also very good even though we only used a small guitar amp for the 2nd guitar.
cheers everyone!

to answer Pin:
At the moment the CM Annexe Performance Space is still waiting for their own backline (amps, drums etc) and PA, this is why we had to change venue for the Pack show.
As for the “rental of space” and all that, I called them up just now but they said it is still being formulated.
For contact details, you can go through me if you wanna book a time. As a tenant of the building the Ricecooker shop is getting a special deal. But you will need to go under the Ricecooker SHop Presents banner, that is if you don’t mind it.
When will you be back here Pin? Heard you’ll be playing the Fringe Fest in Singapore soon.

I don’t think that should be a problem for what I have in mind. A simple PA system would be all that is sufficient for our means.
>But you will need to go under the Ricecooker SHop Presents >banner, that is if you don’t mind it.
Of course, no problem with that la.
Another thing: is it possible for you (or anyone else reading this) to get in touch with Meor and ask if he’d like to play this show?
Will write you an email later tonight.
nofx is doing south east asian tour on april. just wondering, is anyone gonna organize any shows for them? the singapore tentative date is on 20th april. kalau dapat buat small diy show kat sini mesti best
to answer Pin:
If you just need the PA, then lets plan now. Gimme the date etc. As for Meor, I can give him a holler. The man’s living in and working Ipoh at the moment but he’s always in KL during the weekends when he’s able. As he said it, “I missed busking,..”. Meor has also released a new CD, but I haven’t got it yet.
To answer Sharizal:
Yes. We are aware of NOFX coming to play the region, and best thing I heard is that they are paying their own money to come! I mean a lot of the bigger bands coming here always asked for a lot of money, Napalm Death asked for thousands of Ringgits; the same with the recent Exploited visit and others.
Anyway, The Ricecooker Shop (Joe & Fendi) and JB’s MuzikBox (Fadzil) are ganging up together to do a show for them in KL, and now we are talking to them and sorting things out. We are trying to do a big show, with much publicity and everything but WITHOUT corporate sponsors. It’ll be a pretty much DIY but widely promoted.
Keep your fingers crossed.
that’s so good to know joe. yeah, i tried to contact them once like a month ago but no follow up from them. i hope you guys could make the show happen. come on, it’s NOFX we’re talking about. they’re one of the important bands that got me into punk rock and i still listen/love to them. hell yeah! this is good news 🙂
yerp, GREAT NEWS indeed! organizer sila kosongkan tarikh ni. jgn berebut2 nak buat gig. huhuhu…cannot wait lah!
consider this as wild rumours. But we at papakerma might be bringin’ ’em here over this year:

– The One AM Radio / United States
– Tiala / Japan
– Deepslauter / Japan
– PS Burn This Letter / Japan
– HOMICIDE!!! / Indonesia (no talk yet. but hey, who knows!)
more!!!
here’s the e-mail i sent:
