    hiya joe, howsit goin’ chief?
first off – just wanted to let you know that you’re doing a great job running this site; making it almost a plinth of the scene; as well a sturdy platform folks from all walks of life to rant, rave & publish their output.
It’s been a long ride..but helluva ride since i guess for you from the days of aedes, AGE, Blasting Concept [along with the ever engaging heavy metal meister sharing the flipside of the page – Mr.B] & tepid sweltering afternoons at Picaddilly after hours.
Not to sound to patronising – but dude you’ve done good mate. You should tab the can and give yerself that congratulatory wash of hop. Impressive. and proud of you from someone who’s been followin on yer developments from the sides…. Its not often you can find anyone from the sunny side of dungun/jerangau..living it and doing it – with the ‘it’ possibly being..an intrinsic passion…which i guess all of us have in some of form of another. sadly thouhg i have lost it
    and surrendered a dreary existence of a punchclock/swipecard mundane…utopia of sorts..mwahahhahaha
sincere kudos to the efforts – i realise its not easy doin what you’re doing.
Also i’d like to express my sincerest gratitutude for putting up stuff such as seelan’s cause. i remember reading in one of your earlier blogs on your views on the right/freedom of personal expression..about how each fella/fellis have the right to a have a viewpoint each unto its own..a true to your words this posting is a lasting example.
respect. (dude – seriously no bodekking alright. you’d probably not realise how much it would mean to an individual of minority denomination usually subject to blase censorship on matters concering sensitivites of the race – but it means helluva lot alright; just putting it up)

    dear penglipurlara,

i have chosen to write in this piece in english as I did not want my solid fluency in BM [harsh east coast dialects included!!:)] to be miscontrued..of my racial origin, configuration or whatever they’re calling it these days..mwahhaaa.

Just wanted to add a point or two in response to your comment. Look, here’s the thing bro – i can understand & relate to your veiwpoint on the violence & how it has probably wracked havoc on all our pre-conceived emotions of peace, stability and calm in our backyards; it had the same effect on me, however what i cannot quite grasp is the reasoning behind it.

To me it’s not a ‘hindraf’ thing bro – its not somethin’ that should be anchored; affixed & pointed at a certain quarter. Rest assured, it can happen to ANYone of us – for whatever cause that an issue is raised. you get what i mean? what happened in those 2 rallies,’bersih’ rally are strong undercurrents harbouring resentment and..concurrently signalling something strongly unnerving to the dudes upstairs. what resulted was an infringement of rights; not of a particular race – but yours and mine. the average joe on the street strugglin’ to make a living.

That sporean dude, was i guess doin what he felt he needed to do – i.e. it was his right and he did it in his own manner. it was something he related to strongly. i’m sure as hell, knowing him, he probably has strong views on guantanomo bay…which by the way bro i agree..is an outright self-embarassment of the so-called democratic values that they unyieldingly portray. and by the way for you info..guantanomo bay does not only hold islamic militiants..its an internment camp for anyone unjustifably labelled as a ‘baddie’ by the farkin yanks..without trial..which sucks. that sporean dude probably has a strong stance on it as well..coming from a nation that clamps down quite a bit on the freedom of people. but this was something he related to strongly. the question i’d like to propose to you is – would you as an individual relate more strongly to alleged inmates of guantanomo bay being held without trial OR aung san suu kyi? or the truly undeserved violence that the palestinians, the sickening bosnian genocide OR the racous hell that went on during the rwandan genocide of innocent tutsi’s? or maybe the rwandan genocide is just some dumb africans killin’ each other off? do you catch my drift? we all feel it. some of it moves us more. that doesnt make us any different.

don’t believe whatever you’re reading in the papers bro. thing is you were not there. not many of us were there. the same shit happened during bersih. the violence is not created. it’s agitated. heck it could have even been instigated from within by their own kind…by folks who purposefully wanted to make it look like an all out riot. truth be told we won’t know dude. and we probably will never find out. but to pass a judgement on it based on facts published a state-controlled media? i don’t really think that’s fair. i lost faith in the local dailies after the anwar incident. the reports were an utter insult to intelligence. sodomy and a king-size bed with semen sample to salt an open wound further? come on.

although i am not in full agreement & condone the manner in which both rallies had been in conducted..i can however related it to it..see bro..you have to be a part of a minority population to actually be able to understand it.

don’t get me wrong please. i fully understand the need for special privileges. i can see the need for it. heck dude, if i was of that particular race i would demand the same thing as well. and it’s not something unique to malaysia e.g:-
    South Africa – similar policies have been employed to uplift the black/”coloured” population;
US – affirmative action employed for people of african american ancestry to make up for approx 250 years of slavery..which i think is a pittance..
India – to uplift the livelihood of low-caste/kasta indians who had suffered under the caste regime employed by upper caste brahmins and the likes.
i can relate it to dude. I think it is justified. In places like Fiji, where it was initially not employed, they had to face much strife. it relates strongly to peace and stability. but here’s the thing..if it had been distributed properly to the bumi population that really deserves it..no one has a right to question it. i don’t think it has. sadly no. all you have to do is just take a drive on the east coast and see for yourself. the question that even i can pose is..why is it not reaching them?

working for most of the last few years on the east coast has widen my perspective somewhat. particularly a period of time where i was residing in a border town between 2 states.. where both the harsher dialects of both states were spoken…the first 6 months were difficult..but i realised this..once i cracked the accent/slang..i was in no-way treated much differently from the locals..even good enough for a free 2nd serving of nasi-dagang for breakfast once in a while. and i actually felt comfortable. unlike the feeling i get in the east coast. the racial configurations..have unfortunately been somehwat ingrained & drummed into our heads…either knowingly or subconsciously..we’re all racist in one way or another dude. and thats a unnerving fact
in this sad state of affairs.
the bright side is this..as long as you still have people
viewing people for what they are on the inside..
    we still have farkin hope.
    at least i hope.

    yours appreciatively,
    moz.

p.s. you know that medical course you were talking about..erhm..in russia?..did you ever wonder why bro there was a larger non-bumi (chinese included) population of students there?
bet you a telur mate goreng boss..those dudes are either:-
    a) kids who had good results but probably got dissed because they did not get the “minimum” 4A’s required to a medic course
    b) kids who are studying on their parent’s hard earned money who could not put their kids into a local uni because fo that “minimum” results – any parent (including you and me) would want the best for their kids
    c) kids with loaded parents who simply felt like sending their kids to do medicine. yes. but usually a minority.
    d) kids whose parents/or themselves..applied for loans/scholarship based on merit to try to get a place.
    e) they wanted to medicine as an ambition – and they couldn’t get it back home – especially the smart chinese students who breeze through with 4A’s and missing out by 1 B.

do you think its fair a second-generation malaysian citizen of indonesian parentage be granted special privileges compared to an ethnic chinese/indian/punjabi/others who have lived four to five generations (i.e. spanning an average of 100 – 150 yeras dude to shorter life cycles)? it is a viewpoint. not a direct attack on you. please understand that. i do not blame you or any of my good bumi mates. it is not their fault.
its the cunts playin chess with it upstairs.

    dear penglipurlara,

regret the delay. tied up with the derogatory burden that we’ve grown accustomed to as work…16hr days are getting to me bro.

*sigh*..i dun really know where to start la dude… but i guess..the thing is..i dun think you will get what he’s(seelan) tryin to achieve unless at any point in your life you have been somewhat part of a minority..or belong to a minority group of a social structure in an organization of sorts. i’d like to reiterate that this a universal thing..it’s not something “uniquely common” to malaysia. i guess the point i’m trying to make is this…you may not relate to it because you are not part of that minority group.

you will have your own set of trials and tribulations which you have deemed as unfair..affecting yourself deeply; and believe me i can appreciate some of that. similarly to your goodself; they have theirs.

here’s the problem – it’s not a 2-way mirror. or rather folks choose to spraypaint it over in the guise of state-controlled media; playing the racial divide; splicing emotions and all-together make a concoction good enough for a home-made molotov cocktail.

i can relate to what you’re saying…probably the memorandum was uncalled for..but have you given any thought as to why it arose in the first place? just a coupla drunk indian dudes out to cause havoc? opposition-pronged trouble-making to destablize the election atmosphere? or maybe just maybe..oh here’s a good one…a purposeful govt-staged riot to take off the spotlight on the ‘bersih rally’ happenings a coupla weeks before.?.mwahhahaaa i dunnow dude. and even if i knew..i would choose to remain deaf & dumb. it’s insulting my intelligence.
but i have given thought to why it has come about.
i have also given thought as to why the bersih rally came about.
i have also given somep thought on the ‘so-called’ unruly riot staged by alleged troublemakers with no-life deep in the trengganu heartland coupla months before that..all the media did at that time..all they incessantly kept repeating on tv was kids burning malaysian flags..i mean…why not get those kids on tv..and ask them..interview them..what is it they are pissed off about..probably that would shed some light on why is it that is bothering them?..they won’t. they don’t want to.
people are pissed dude due what they have found as injustices against them. although..it seems..i guess its more poignant if a different race does it. *sigh* i apologize. yes that sentence sounds a wee bit biased. but i can’t help it…especially seeing people around me getting flared up about it…of all races. i’m was privy to that sense of insecurity as well..until i decided to take a step back.

okay some clarifications for your info penglipurlara:-
    first off:-
I dun think mr.zai kuning was being emo about anything. and you shouldn’t either…my guess is..he’s just winding you up..i feel he is just doing what his duty as a good mate; friend and confidante that all universal good buddies do for each other.. he’s just standing for good mate of his..i.e. seelan..i think you would do the same if someone was dissing a good mate of yours as well dude…see the ironic thing is this..i think if you had known seelan..or know the fella in person..and spent some time hanging out with him…you wouldn’t be spewing your worries as such…he’s as good as they come…

    secondly:-
you’re right. those kinda memorandums can cause havoc. i think i did tell you…hope i made myself clear enough..that i was upset about it initially..it had unsettled….in a selfish sorta way…bro…we all have families to look out for..you and me..you think i’m not worried? as i said i don’t condone..and i’m damn sure..i will get some flack for this…but as i said..you’d have to look at where they’re coming from..there’s a lot of issues there..and again as i said to judge the whole memorandum on:-
    a) what was published in media reports – e.g. the bintang; the selat times;
    b) truncated terms such ethnic cleansing being lashed about – hey hey what better way to get people pissed huh bro? (bearing in mind neither you or i have acutally seen the original letter)
    c) oh and of course..the threat of racial strife…guess who will be at the forefront fanning this up? what the people?..and what let the politicos lose their mileage?
if its either a, b or c…don’t pass any judgements chief. earlier today i read a headlines in one of the local tabloid-type dailies..it had the headlines..”punk sengkek” smeared across it…i read it..and i could not help laughing dude. see everyline in that report translated into something else in my head. it registered something else. solely because i have gone through that..and thankfully experienced a part of it while growing up…good enough to know that it is crap.
do you remember the whole shite that went on with the ‘black metal’ issue?..you and i know..how much crap went on there don’t we?..because we have experienced that and felt it. and so…we can tell the difference.

i know i’m probably wasting your time; and i’d sincerely like to apologize for that….and i didn’t want to bring this last issue up..because…well it is just that..probably to sensitive..

i read one of your earlier remarks..that went something like this…
    “sape kate kite tak pedulik?
sape kate kita biarkan org lain?
kalau kita xpedulik orang lain dah lame merempat dah diorg sume tue.”.
this is something i hope you don’t mind – i would like to strongly disagree. here’s the thing dude:-
this is a country that was built on agreement & i stress agreement/mutual understanding of the 3 major races (and later on east malaysian brothers)

them colonial brits would not have given independence had this been not achieved…probably use it as an excuse to milk the country dry further
it’s a mutual thing..and understanding…i just found it hard to swallow..
    that as time gets by..
them folk are construed as living off the goodwill gesture of the majority..or rather out of pity? the message i got from that remark..and from many viewpoints by our so-called well balanced politicos…is..them buggers a lucky enough to have all that you currently have?
that got me. again. i’m not emo bro. just voicing my opinions. I wouldn’t dream of saying anythign remotely like that for fear of offending any mates of mine of other races. it is believe me. offensive.

i was talking to a mate of mine who participated in the those rallies.(all 3) an activist type who’s true to his sould. he relayed me to something interesting. one of the main issues..was the demolishing of temples. no doubt there were technical issues on it..mainly concerning land issues…as these were temples constructed a long time ago..on land which was initially estate land..but due to massive urbanisation..the townships have replaced estate communal live…around these temples..which may or may not give rise to a cause for grievance..
now heaven forbid if i were to say i was religious..cause i’m not dude…i’m probably one of those people..who..erhm..well put it this way..i think i would more likely be prone for eternal damnation rather than…be blessed with the light of mercy..mwahhahahhaa…dun get me wrong..i do respect the institution that is called a religion…but not an avid practioner…although till this very day..i still believe in one thing..and that is karma…
you do good..good things will happen to you.
destroying places of worship..of whatever religion be it a mosque, synagogue, church, temple or gurdwhara…without being given an option to re-locate..or re-locate to inconvenient spots..is..well
    taunting forces out of control?
to me dude..all religion is one. i think you’re probably going to diagree with this. but that’s my viewpoint. if i do at all practice a proper form of prayer or institutionalized religion…but for the life of me..i can’t seem the BOSS upstairs…going..oh hey..you’re not worshipping me..or your drink…and you swear..therefore i damn you to eternal hell..
i don’t think THE DUDE’s that narrow minded.
    peace out bro.
again. just saying my piece. i’m not in the least interested in offending you a faceless stranger of whose viewpoint i appreciate.
