Saturday, 1st November 2008: Burning Japan, Singapore
Brutal Terrorism’s tape was released by Black Konflik recently, expect crazy thrashing madness.
The other band is a bit of a mystery to me. Apparently Money is God features one ex-Asbestos member! Now that’s interesting but this one “review” by Tokyo Damage Report is better: “Their set went something like this: Short intro song – 15 minute super heavy, droney, minimal, oppressive, overwhelming, slowly yet constantly changing BEST SONG I HAVE EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE – sudden acoustic, awful little indie pop song FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER…”
There’s a JB show for these two visiting Japanese bands but it’s kinda hush-hush. Do write to Broken Noise if you are interested. I wish I can go and check Money is God out but hey! somebody has to jaga the shop boss!
Uh-oh…I’m worried about drone-I can see a whole bunch of people latching on to it and it becoming the ‘Next Big Thing’-typical…
there’s good drone and bad drone, just like everything else. The Next Big Thing is not “drone”, as we had Goh Lee Kwang and Yin Pin giving us good excuses to go and have a smoke outside for a decade now.
The Next Big Thing is the 80s Mat Rock revival, as currently attempted by Revenge and the likes. Big hair is coming back, and I’m already growing mine. Gonna get a pair of belang-belang spandex and I’ll be set to rawk!
Yeah I’ve been listening to Journey, Def Leppard and Night Ranger like a motherfucker lately-unfortunately, my hair is starting to get too thin for me to ever have my ‘dream mullet’ in time =( But that ok, because…
‘YOU CAN STILL…ROCK IN AMERICA OH YEAH!!!! ALRIGHT!!!!’
I’m done.
