Friday, 7th January 2011: The Take Screening @ Noisy
The Take is a Canadian documentary film released in 2004 by the wife and husband team of Naomi Klein and Avi Lewis. It tells the story of workers in Buenos Aires, Argentina who reclaim control of a closed Forja auto plant where they once worked and turn it into a worker cooperative, or as could be argued, a working model of anarcho-syndicalism.
This screening is organized by Pustaka Semesta Infoshop and Gudang Noisy to commemorate the factory workers strike in Argentina on 7th January 1919 as the beginning of “Bloody Week” in Bueros Aires and also as a tribute to 800 people who were killed and 1500 wounded on 9th January 1919 in general strike there when government passed martial law to smash the strike.
