FreedomFilmFest 2008 is here again!
KOMAS FreedomFilmFest 2008 – Film Competition
Calling All Film Makers and Activists!
Kuala Lumpur, Tuesday 19th, February – The KOMAS Freedom Film Fest 2008 (FFF08) is once again looking for daring human rights stories to be made into film. This year’s theme, “Democratic Space – Making Room for Human Rights” is to highlight the deteriorating state of Democratic space in Malaysia.
FFF08 invites members of the of public to send in their proposals before the deadline on the 31st March, 2008 and compete for the chance to be one of the three lucky people chosen to receive a RM5,000 grant to turn your film into a reality!
Where are the Democratic Spaces, if any, in Malaysia and what is Democracy? Public and free space is quickly vanishing from our landscape and with it goes our democratic rights. What can we do as citizens to reclaim the space!
Winners will also receive the Justin Louis Award and technical assistance from KOMAS to produce their winning stories. Completed films will premiere at the FFF2008 screenings and will ultimately compete for the “Most Outstanding Human Rights Film” title. Former winners include Fahmi Reza for his critically acclaimed 2007 entry “Sepuluh Tahun Sebelum Merdeka”.
