Fire in the Kitchen: FNBKL Needs Your Help!

Urgent Appeal – Kebakaran di dapur rakyat Food Not Bombs KL

Pada hari Ahad, 3 September 2006, satu kebakaran telah berlaku di dapur FNBKL di FNBKL center, Taman Seputih, KL.

Kebakaran itu dipercayai berpunca daripada kebocoran paip gas. Ia berlaku sekitar pukul 5.00 petang semasa dua orang aktivis FNB sedang memasak makanan percuma untuk agihan di jalanan yang sepatutnya berlansung pada pukul 6 petang di pusat Bandar Kuala Lumpur. Api berjaya dipadamkan dengan bantuan beberapa teman yang lain yang berada ditempat kejadian. Walau bagaimanapun, tiada kecederaan fizikal yang terjadi, tetapi cukup memberi kesan emosi kepada mereka yang berada ditempat kejadian terutamanya kepada 2 orang aktivis FNB yang betul-betul berada di dapur ketika kejadian itu berlaku.

Kebakaran itu telah mengakibatkan kerosakan kepada beberapa alatan, kabel elektrik dan bahagian dapur.

Setelah membuat kiraan dan merujuk kepada kos membaik pulih dapur, sistem pemwayaran elektrik juga kos meningkatkan sistem keselamatan kebakaran, anggaran kos adalah sekitar RM 1500 – RM 2000.

Untuk menampung kos membaikpulih, FNBKL akan menjalankan kutipan derma untuk meringankan beban kewangan, memandangkan FNBKL adalah satu organisasi independen yang tidak mempunyai dana tetap, dimana anggotanya tidak dibayar dan bekerja secara sukarela. Bantuan kewangan boleh disalurkan melalui akaun bank atau secara terus kepada koordinator yang bertugas.

URGENT APPEAL ‚Äì REPORT OF FIRE IN THE FOOD NOT BOMBS KL’S KITCHEN

On the 3rd September 2006, a fire accidentally broke out in the FNBKL’s kitchen allocated in Taman Seputih, Kuala Lumpur.

It is believed that the fire occurred due to gas leakage which came into contact with the cooking activity held that day. The incident took place at around 5 pm when 2 FNBKL’s activists were doing the free food preparation which later to be distributed to the needy as usual occasion every Sunday. The servings of free foods are normally being served on the street in the center Kuala Lumpur.

Eventually, the activists and other friends whom were at the same location! managed to stop the fire from spreading to other parts of the house. Although there were no physical injuries arise, the participants on the charity activity were in total shock as the participants were in proximate contact with the unexpected incident.

The following are the lists of items which are damaged as a result of the fire:

After calculation, it is estimated that the costs to repair and restore the kitchen is around RM1,500 -RM2,000.

The repair works will cover among others, the increment of fire safety system, the repair of electrical wiring and etc. FNBKL also does have a plan to get assistance from donation in order to weigh down the burden of repair costs amount since FNBKL is an independent organization which does not possess any permanent funding as the activities were made in voluntarily basis where activists and volunteers do not receive any remuneration out of this charity activity.

Donation/ Assistance from everyone are very much needed and highly appreciated to facilitate on the effort to fix and restore the kitchen’s condition. Help are urgently called upon to ensure the running of the charity FNBKL’s organization.
