Basement Records: New Shop & Upcoming Releases!
One of the oldest, if not currently THE LONGEST SURVIVING, Malaysian DIY labels & distros, Basement Records had opened up a new store and planning for a lot of releases in 2015. Lets list it out:
01. After being on a long hiatus, in terms of having a physical space, BASEMENT RECORDS re-opened their walk-in business on 1st February 2015 at an old apartment nearby Arab Street, Bukit Bintang. I went to visit the place before it was opened, and I think it’s a great location. Only that you would need to climb up a few stairs. More info below:

02. UPCOMING RELEASES:
Pretty exciting new releases by the label including a vinyl version of MUTILATION’s demo tape and also the rerelease of THE BOLLOCKS’ classic “My Friend” 7″. But first, the SNAGGLETOOTH/ VAULT – split 7″ which will be out anyday now (see pixs below). Two songs each band with 300 copies pressed.
Then we have the rerelease of MUTILATION’s demo tape on vinyl. As you mayhave known MUTILATION were one of the first Malaysian grindcore bands. The first appeared somewhere in 1990 or 1991, and along with INFECTIOUS MAGGOTS started the whole grind thang!
Here’s the centre-label art for MUTILATION’s 7″
Then BASEMENT RECORDS have this in the pipeline: the reissue of THE BOLLOCKS’ legendary 7″ from 1996, originally released in France by Tian An Men 89 and features recordings of the band from 1995 – thus making the release its 20th anniversary!
Further on, there’s the long awaited split-7″ featuring KL’s own thrashpunks SARJAN HASSAN with the legendary HIRAX! This project has been dormant for many years with no window of release, that is until now.
Here’s the test-pressing pix:
And last but not least, a special meeting of Singapore’s veterans OPPOSITION PARTY and Malaysia’s own THE BOLLOCKS (yes, again) on a split-7″ featuring tracks previously released and unreleased. For this one, the masters have been sent for preliminary test-pressings.
So as you can see, Sahmmir has been very, very busy. As for me, I think I’d better start saving up.
