YONG CHING SUI FUNDRAISING EXHIBITION

On August of 2005, 30 year-old visual artist Yong Ching Sui discovered he had contracted kidney cancer. Immediate surgery to remove the infected kidney was carried out but the cancer had already spread to other parts of the body. Now, bedridden in Tung Shin Hospital undergoing further treatment.
He wishes to travel to China for a special treatment once he can get out of the hospital bed.
This charity exhibition aims to help Ching Sui relief some of his medical expenses and fulfill his wish of traveling to China for treatment.
Artworks on exhibition include works by Yong Ching Sui himself, his close friends’, up-and-coming young artists’ and established artists’ works.
50% to 100% of the proceeds from the sales of the exhibition will go directly to relieving Ching Sui’s medical expenses. A Collection Box will also be prepared for those who wish to donate money.

ricecooker note: Ching Sui was a regular contributor to the old Loosened-Monkey Records activities a few years back. i remember him sharing his art studio and living quarters at the old Monkey Rooms jam studio in Cheras. He also appeared in some gigs with regulars of the EMACM collective. A damn nice guy and very talented artist to boot! I saw him last a few months ago at an exhibition held at Reka Arts.
